Well, thank you for that enlightening piece of information, Oralee. :|...

So, I've gotten quite a bit of feedback/critique over this fight scene, and I want to apologize to everyone for its lack of quality. I've been very disappointed with my art over the past few weeks and also frustrated that I've failed to deliver a decent page time and again. It's apparent that I need to study and practice a lot more before attempting another scene like this... So thanks for bearing with me, and I hope that I'll eventually improve if I work harder... :)

Rebecca: ...and?
Oralee: That's it! :D He's just nice.
Rebecca: :| ... +watches him beat the crap out of Madoc+ ...is he?

26th Jun 2011, 11:42 PM

That totally sounds awesome. :P

I find frustration to be a good thing, face the challenge as I know you will. Your art is growing each day.

*next page* Locke's elbow reverberates off of Madoc's rock hard abs. Madoc laughs. "Is that it?" *Madoc PAAHWWNCH* (to the face)

He hasn't taken off that glove in a while, you can see that his arm stinks from not washing it in the third (fourth?) panel!

I think this scene was cool. If what your looking for is more dynamic fight scenes then try to experiment with more 3 dimensional poses and in your face action. as they are now your fight scenes seem stylized. like if I saw something like this somewhere else I would call it a WTS fight scene.

Right now its good as a fight scene but its like an action movie with no music, awesome stuff is happening but you need that musical touch to make it truly epic.

27th Jun 2011, 3:17 AM

dat arm. itz ze curze of ze blondez. :o

i bet that its gonna hurt for someone, or both, now ._.

27th Jun 2011, 4:18 AM

What? Bull crap, this fight scene is pretty darn good. the only thing, as lawelite mentioned, is that it could flow a little better.

27th Jun 2011, 5:17 AM

I'm sure he'll be nice to Madoc - oh what's he - oh - ow - nooooo!

27th Jun 2011, 5:43 AM

dont be disappointed in your art kristy. noticing flaws is a good thing, it lets you improve, but this is not bad enough to warrant disappointment :P IMO, anyway

good work as always :P

27th Jun 2011, 6:44 AM

MADOC! Grab him in a choke hold and break his neck!
Grah, why are my favourite characters always the antagonists?

Anyway, I think this page is good! Your characters' proportions are fine, and I like the different angles you use in your panels.

27th Jun 2011, 6:49 AM

@Bandkanon: He totally is. :I Because Oralee says so.

@Peter: Thank you. Yeah, frustration is good when it's used to fuel determination to improve. I'm still quite disappointed in myself, though. Oh well.

@Shaggers: Haha, the mental images... XD Poor Locke~

@Lobotomistman: o_o I see that you've chosen a side, then!

@Jacob: I know, right. Man, Locke, go take a bath. ... You know, when you have time. N-not right now. :I

@Frosty: :< Why did it go down so far..? ORALEE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE

@Lawelite: I agree, part of the problem is that they aren't dynamic enough for my liking. I want them to be fast and in-your-face, but when I draw them, they come out flat and stiff. :\ Just need more practice...

@aapur: Haha, that's why Locke has that arm. It's because he's a blonde! D:

@Ryan C.: Thanks. :) Agreed, the flow could definitely be better...

@MatthewJA: ... What.

@Thatguy: "Not bad" is enough to warrant disappointment from me, haha... I don't want "not bad" or even "good." I want excellence. :C Which is definitely not what I have now.

@Agent0Gecko: Oh gosh, everyone wants Locke's blood. D: Eeeee~

Because antagonists are awesome. :O I have a hard time deciding between the two myself!

27th Jun 2011, 7:47 AM

NO, it's because he's the main character! DUH, Oralee!!

I find action scenes to be very daunting and that the best way to study them is to just bumble along and try your best. :) You're doing great!

27th Jun 2011, 3:19 PM

Awesome as always, Kristy. :D Locke is a total badass.

27th Jun 2011, 5:29 PM

You're not going to believe me, but I think this sequence is great. There are nitpicks here and there, sure, but you're already showing improvement in keeping the figures fluid (panels 1 & 5 especially) and the choreography is top notch. So... >.>

27th Jun 2011, 7:08 PM

Of all the awesome arm powers attacks he could've used, he chose an elbow attack leaving a big portion of his body vulnerable. >:|

28th Jun 2011, 12:49 AM

@MoW: No, it's because he's nice. :D

@Purplefire: "Bumbling" is probably the best word I've seen so far to describe what I'm doing, haha~. Upward and onward!

@Fenris: He has potential. :o

@Zomburai: Aww, thanks! :D That's very encouraging to hear, even if I don't completely believe you. >:I

@D_Man: ...Did he? :3

28th Jun 2011, 8:03 AM

For the record, I'm seconding pretty much everything Zomburai said. It IS awesome. Not "not bad", not "good", well and truly awe-inspiring. :D

8th Aug 2012, 8:39 PM

flips question right back at Kristy...

DID HE?????? o.O

28th Jun 2011, 10:43 AM

Whaaa---in reply to your comment for this page. Your pages are great and while being an artist means continual growth, don't be negative about your current stuff! It's nicely done, but I have no doubt that you'll get even better, because that is the way of a talented person such as yourself!!

28th Jun 2011, 11:58 AM

Spent some hours catching up on everything. <3 My God, Kristy your style is amazing.

28th Jun 2011, 2:12 PM

D_Man: ...DID HE?! o_o

Midnight: You are always so encouraging, Midnight~. <3 Thanks so much! I'll continue trying to improve!

@DonCassieCass: ...

Aiiiiieeeee! DONCASSIECASS~ How have you been!? I was just thinking about whatever happened to you. :c How goes the comic-making?

Hahaha! It's his own fault for getting hurt. D:< Cocky, greedy, smug little jerk. DX (Which is why I love him. :I)

I think you gave me my first Madoc fanart ever. o-o It still makes me laugh every time I see it!

30th Jun 2011, 11:47 PM

Hard to fault the kid's logic. :P

1st Jul 2011, 10:23 AM

Lol! I missed ya! :D I've been good and you?
My comic is good so far. Going to bring it back soon, hopefully. Err..the self publishing idea was way too expensive so it's not worth it in the end. Webcomics are funner anywho. lol XD Thanks for asking though~

4th Jul 2011, 1:46 PM

Also, I gotta draw more Madoc. I GOTTA. <3

4th Jul 2011, 1:46 PM

@ArchangelM127: I see no flaw in her thinking. None at all. :I Being nice totally means you can do anything. Anything.

@DonCassieCass: I saw that you update Behind Our Times in my Subscription feed! Eeee, so exciting~! (I'm going to go comment as soon as I finish this one!)

Hrk, I've been looking into self-publishing Wake the Sleepers for a while and yeah, it's so expensive. o_o I'll have to resize all the pages in order to get it down to a reasonable price. And I agree, webcomics are more fun! I love getting comments and stuff like this. :D It's a great motivator!

Also, yessss! Please doooo~! I adore your art. *o*

5th Jul 2011, 8:28 AM

So he will win because he is nice, not because he has a crazy cursed glowy arm of dubious power?

2nd Feb 2012, 11:53 AM

Totally. How else would a good guy win? ;)

8th Aug 2012, 8:41 PM

I think this looks awesome! :D And I like Orallee's thinking; that the good guys win. XD

14th Feb 2012, 12:54 PM

Quality? Low?

I need not say more. :P
(Though knowing me, I might. :P)
